CHAMPS MEET INFO!!
Hi Barracudas! The meet we’ve been working towards all season is almost upon us! (is it just me, or has this semester flown by?) The meet info is attached.
A word about Champs meets…
•This is a scored meet. In other words, at the end of the meet on Sunday the top three teams will be awarded. And then the real fun begins because we all go out to eat together as a team. =) (not required of course, but lots of fun).
•Your swimmer may swim 3 events each day (not including relays). You do not HAVE to do both days, but the more you swim the more points our team gets. (We’ve won 9 straight, so I’d love to keep that going! The more swimmers we have the more points we get.) =) Anyone who finishes in the top 16 of an event scores points for the team.
•There are also individual high point awards for each age group. For your swimmer to be in contention for a high point award, they would need to swim both days.
•Sessions run as normal on Saturday with 11&ups in the morning and 10&unders in the afternoon. On Sunday all age groups swim in the morning. It’s a really great time for the younger kids to watch the older kids swim and for the older kids to cheer on and encourage the youngers. And then the awards ceremony. And then the post meet meal together.
•This meet costs $25 and that pays for both days of the meet. I will send out more info soon on how specifically to pay.
A word about relays… For a Champs meet I let the computer select the relays. I press a button that says, “choose best relay” and I generally go with that. I do still try to get as many people in relays as possible. So please understand that if your child is not in a relay this meet that I just couldn’t make it happen. But in January we will have another meet (that Barracudas will be in charge of! more details soon!) and I will try to get them in a relay then. Thanks for understanding.
Never hesitate to text me with any questions! The day after this meet will be a day off! No practice on December 4!
I will send information about the December 10 meet in Lawton, OK for purple, orange, and yellow groups soon.
See you at the pool!
