About Us

In and out of the pool, our team seeks to embody the mission, vision, and values of the YMCA:

Mission

To put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Vision

Preparing youth to succeed and serve.

Values

Our values embrace the universal truths inherent in relationships with others – Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty.

Excellence in the water – and beyond

We want to see every swimmer have fun, build good friendships, and develop the skills to be able to enjoy swimming for a lifetime.  We are also committed to helping every swimmer develop to their fullest potential.  Coach Bug and her staff emphasize learning proper stroke technique while using a blend of race-pace training, drills, and dry land workouts.  Our philosophy is, don’t count your laps – make your laps count!

Barracuda swimmers are setting state YMCA records, winning gold medals at Junior Olympics, hitting A/AA/AAA/AAAA USA standard times, representing their high schools at UIL regional and state meets, and going on to compete at the collegiate level.  Collectively, our team is winning both league and state YMCA championships and is setting state relay records.  Whether your goals are lofty or more modest, we think you will find the BCCY Barracudas to be a team where you can not only learn how to swim and to swim fast, but where you will find friends and gain skills and confidence to help you succeed in life.
